R+D+I CENTRE – SAICA GROUP

The Saica Group is an Aragonese multinational located in El Burgo del Ebro (Zaragoza), which is dedicated to developing sustainable solutions for the manufacture of recycled paper, corrugated cardboard packaging and flexible packaging, as well as for the management and recovery of waste. It is present in nine countries and has a team of more than 10,000 professionals.

The R&D&I centre, as an international benchmark for research technology, is a new building located in the Saica Paper plant of the Saica Group. It will host more than 1,900 m2 of new laboratory spaces designed and executed entirely by the HibLab team.

HibLab has demonstrated its ability to comprehensively develop all the technical divisions that merge with all the services required for each laboratory space in the centre itself. In addition, it has managed to ensure that the entire space integrates perfectly with the structure of the building itself and the interior architectural elements.

An essential aspect that stands out in the design of the R+D+I centre’s laboratory spaces is that they have been customised to make them unique, providing a differential approach to the concept of interior architecture to create a space full of light, colour and shapes.

The personalisation of each of the areas, incorporating the brand’s corporate colour in the laboratory material itself, has meant that the identity has been transferred to the laboratory space itself.

HibLab has also executed special elements such as the SAS, the enclosure inside the laboratory rooms, the large fume hood, etc. which make it a laboratory tailor-made according to the needs of the research work to be carried out inside the laboratory.

A great challenge of integral execution of research laboratory spaces, which merges the integration of technical walls, customised laboratory furniture solutions and corporate brand personalisation. The core of laboratory spaces designed and equipped at the cutting edge of design, with curved shapes and

movements that will favour the flow of processes and people.

HibLab once again demonstrates its capacity for the development and comprehensive execution of large laboratory space infrastructures in the field of research.
